Course description

Many sponsors make the mistake of believing that they don’t need to get involved; that the project shouldn’t take up too much of their time. In fact, the most successful projects have sponsors that understand the importance of their involvement. The project manager must deliver the project outcome but does not necessarily have the scope of authority or access to all areas and levels of an organization to effectively address all barriers, obstacles, or issues that a project will encounter. As a result, the sponsor must, through active support and involvement, enable the project manager to deliver a successful project. A good sponsor is clear on his/her responsibilities throughout the various phases of project management.

Individuals who will benefit from this course include anyone in a position of being responsible for sponsoring projects, which includes:

  • Communicating the project vision and purpose
  • Addressing questions about requirements, budgets, and resources
  • Providing status updates to senior management from the project manager
