Most people can name the letters. Far fewer are confident about what sits behind them — or about the difference between who someone is, who they are attracted to, and how they present to the world.

In this lively and engaging session, Christa Kirby unpacks some of the LGBTQ+ terminology, exploring biological sex, gender identity and gender expression as three separate characteristics that each exist on a spectrum. Along the way she covers the historical and current issues facing the LGBTQ+ community, the ally skills that make a work environment genuinely inclusive, why inclusive language matters, and how identity and pronouns connect. There is LGBTQ+ trivia too — this is a session designed to be enjoyed, not endured.
