Course description

Explore the interpersonal skills needed by all project members to enhance project success, while learning and practicing communication techniques to gain buy-in and effectively resolve conflicts. Whether you’re a full-time or part-time Project Manager, you will gain an understanding of the basic guidelines to building a high-performing team. If you are a team member, you will learn how you can positively influence the performance of any project team-including YOUR Project Manager!

Who should attend

This course is designed for anyone who:

  • Has attended MDP407: Principles and Techniques of Project Management,
  • MDP254: Project Management for Everyone OR anyone who has a formal understanding of project management processes
  • Is a part time or full time Project Leader or a Project Team Member

  • Gain a clear understanding of how a group becomes a unified, high-performing team
  • Develop the mind-set and skill-set for successful project communications
  • Increase buy-in from team members and stakeholders by understanding the connection between Trust, Conflict, and Accountability
  • Understand how to develop and maintain accountability with project team members and stakeholders
  • Learn to influence project participants on all levels of the project who do not directly report to you including: clients, team members, stakeholders, vendors, and more
  • Design a project team “Code of Conduct” to drive effective team interaction
  • Practice using a Communication Framework for dealing with disagreements, problems, and conflicts
  • Learn to utilize formal Project management tools— such a Gantt Charts, Triple Constraints, and Change Requests—when handling interpersonal problems on projects
